Remnant Works

Remnant Works use, alter, and reconstruct materials mined from past installations within the format of wall-based paintings. These often extend beyond the boundaries of a standard canvas with domestic textiles like upholstery, curtains, and bedding being woven into or stretched over the canvas frame. In dialogue with Robert Rauschenberg’s Combines, these pieces blur distinctions between painting and sculpture, elevating and bringing everyday materials into the realm of fine art.

What Shapes the Work

An Act of Alchemy

My paintings explore what it means to be alive at this moment in history. Inundated with an increasing reliance on technology and a waning sense of community, the majority are left navigating uncertainty and overstimulation resulting in frequent ups and downs. I respond with one of a kind improvisational abstractions that combine a personal release guided by abstract expressionism with a playful flamboyant use of color that says, I am here.

I approach the creative act as a kind of alchemy. With every mark, brush stroke, layer, and wash, I work to transform mental and physical unrest into presence. With each piece, emerges an invitation for viewers to reconnect with their own agency, self-worth, and capacity for light.

My hope is that each piece may instill a lifelong reminder for collectors to pause, chase joy, and feel a sense of awe in the present when they encounter these works.
